In this lightly spoiler-y (you have been warned) episode of the podcast, we delve into the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise in general and “Dead Men Tell no Tales” in particular. The new film, out on Blu-ray today, may be a low water mark for the series, but does it have to go out this way?
I remain a fan of the franchise even if I am ever more disappointed by the films themselves and, as I discuss here, am convinced that there is life left in it. So, with that in mind, we look at just where this movie–and the franchise itself–have gone wrong.
Do we have suggestions for improvement? Not really, just faith that it can happen.
