For our last episode of the year, we’re taking a look at spectacle and wether a movie is “worth” seeing on the big screen or the small.
I’m of two minds about this. First, I absolutely understand where people are coming from — movies are expensive and there are some you definitely want to see on the big screen because you feel like they’re going to have a greater “wow” factor. On the other hand, all movies, even the smallest ones, are better on the big screen. Always. Well, always depending on the theater you’re seeing it (talking in the theaters remaining one of the cardinal sins), but always.
“The Walk” is hitting Blu-ray next week and it’s kind of the perfect example of a movie that still works on the small screen but loses something. I still think it’s worth seeing, but can’t help feel as though if you’re seeing it for the first time on TV rather than in a theater you’re not going to get the full experience.
