“Summer of Soul” and Winters of Discomfort

The Oscar nominated documentary from Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson, “Summer of Soul,” is currently available on digital and DVD.  It is a film which looks at the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival and the world in which the concert series took place.

But, it does so much more than that, doesn’t it?

Yes, the film offers great music and provides a history about the music we hear, but “Summer of Soul” also reflects back at us the world in which we live in today, it causes us to ask questions about who we are.  It is a documentary which tackles a whole lot of stuff and does so brilliantly.

Take a listen to our thoughts and don’t forget to subscribe.  We’re available download at Apple Podcasts, iHeartRadioAmazon Music/Audible and more.
