
Gerard Butler’s latest movie, “Kandahar” (2023), is full of good intentions and we very much admire them.
This is a movie that seems to want to offer a nuanced view of Afghanistan, surrounding nations, and the way in which our world works in regards to the area. The issue arises not in the film’s goals, but its execution.
That is what we’re going to examine today — what “Kandahar” wants to do, what it ends up doing, and maybe even a little of why it went wrong.
