"Lass is More" asks if "Fast & Furious 7" is less

Once upon a time, way back when, I would get passes to go see pre-release screenings of movies.  This generally involved me admitting to being a graduate student but declining to say that I was studying film.  And, regularly, one screening would lead to the next — while I waited for admission to a movie, someone would come up to me and ask if I’d like to see something else.  I always said yes and at some point in that adventure I saw “The Fast and the Furious.”  I decided that it was loud and didn’t go to the theaters for any of the sequels.

As the franchise has continued though, I have wondered if my initial assessment was wrong.  It probably wasn’t, I’m still convinced the movie was really loud, but I have been curious about what happened to the characters.

“Furious 7” arrives on Blu-ray this week and that afforded me the perfect opportunity to go back, watch entries I missed, and see how things stood here in this latest one.

Not to put too fine a point on it (that’s for the minisode below), but they’re crazy.  There are better and worse entries, but they’re crazy.  What they also manage to be (generally speaking), is fun.  It actually defies all logic–logic being a trait the films truly eschew–but they’re fun.  The cars are fun, the locations are fun, the stunts are fun.

For more thoughts, check out the minisode below.  Be forewarned, however, that I do complain a little about the lack of logic this latest entry displays.
