“My Fair Lady” and the Last Minute Change


There is no doubt that “My Fair Lady” is a classic.  It is a great movie.  There is also no doubt that the ending… well, the ending may be its downfall.  Henry Higgins is a bad person throughout the film and while he may change right at the very end, it seems silly for Eliza to stay with him.

Let us then, upon the movie’s 4K release, dismiss the question of whether Eliza should stay (she shouldn’t), and contemplate whether Higgins is a different man.  How does Rex Harrison’s performance affect our understanding?  What has the actor brought to the part?
